USU members at Blaxland Tip stopped work after concerns were raised that more than 30 safety notifications and workplace grievances remained unresolved.

Members had repeatedly raised issues relating to workplace safety and reports of bullying within Waste Services. Frustrated by the lack of progress, workers stood together and demanded action.

The stop work meeting resulted in the CEO committing to a three-month investigation into the concerns raised by members. Council is currently investigating the issues, while SafeWork NSW is also involved.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the action taken by members sent a clear message: workplace safety concerns cannot be ignored.

The USU will continue to support members and push for accountability until these concerns are properly addressed.
