Hardworking workplace delegates Aaron Dixon & Scott Henderson have achieved a lot since becoming workplace delegates a few years ago. In great news for current and future members at Greater Hume Shire Council, neither seem to be slowing down either!

Effective delegates benefit everyone, Aaron & Scott’s achievements and continued commitment to unionism and their fellow workers shows this.
Their recruitment efforts have more than doubled USU member numbers at council and union density is stronger than ever.
Neither Aaron or Scott limit their efforts to their own workplaces or vocations – they advocate for any and all members.
Their advocacy and support to Early Childhood Education staff has lead to an ECEC delegates being appointed for the first time at Greater Hume Shire Council. In addition, a newly elected outdoor delegate brings the total number of delegates up to 4.
During the award vote they both worked hard to ensure childcare workers across several sites were able to vote and staffing ratios were maintained.
Since the appointment of a new General Manager at Greater Hume, Aaron & Scott are actively working on developing a good working relationship with them. They are also extremely active in the consultative committee, where they continue to advocate for better working conditions for their fellow members. Recent examples include: a four day work week, cost of living relief and fuel costs.
Individual member issues are given the same level of dedication as broader, council wide ones are, with them resolving several issues including:
- Underpayment of allowance – rectified for the member, with backpay
- Payrise negotiation – secured, based off extra skills he was applying in his role
They have gone above and beyond in their roles as delegates and the Union thanks them for the dedication and passion they bring to the role. Well done Gentlemen!
