“Attention all members of the Union;”
New South Wales Legislation.
Industrial Relations (General) Regulations 2020.
- Pay Slips and employers Records
- Payroll slips accrued leave;
The United Services Union advises all our members to keep copies of your Pay slips and Check your Leave Balances / Accruals:
In the New South Wales industrial relations system, pay slips must generally include enough information to show how the employees’ pay was calculated, including:
11 Content of records—leave
The prescribed records relating to an employee must contain the following particulars about leave of any kind to which the employee is entitled under the industrial relations legislation or an industrial instrument—
(a) the leave taken by the employee,
(b) the employee’s entitlement from time to time to that leave,
(c) the accrual of leave.
This issue Is one that has come to the USU’s attention on multiple occasions in that Leave Balances / Accruals on some of our USU member’s pay advice (pay slips) have been incorrect or lacking the required details to allow our USU members to see if their pay is correct.
We are being informed that it is often the type of Payroll system that the employer is using to manage employees leave Balances /Records, that seems to be where our members’ concerns are being raised.
One such system where there seems to be alleged regular issues is called Technology One.
Our advice to our USU members is to regularly check and see if your leave balances on your pay slips are correct and if they appear not to be correct, we advise you to lodge a grievance with your employer in accordance with the Award in seeking that the matter is remedied without undue delay. Should you need advice or assistance on this matter, please contact your USU Delegate and or USU Organiser for advice and assistance and access to our USU grievance forms which our USU members have access to so they can lodge a grievance in accordance with the Award, and if unresolved within the Award timeframe we can escalate to the NSW IRC to assist in a dispute in resolving the matter.
