Outdoor members at Maitland City Council have secured a 12-month trial for flexible work agreements after ongoing discussions which were initially raised on behalf of the membership and the ongoing requests for Council to consider the implementation of an Enterprise Agreement.

Council proposed a Flexible Work Agreement for outdoor staff where they have been able to elect what works best for them individually.

This proposal was received very well from the membership who have expressed frustration with flexibility for some time. Council established a Flexible Work Committee which worked through each employee’s individual preference of a 4-day work week or a 9-day fortnight and how that would work operationally.

This has been a huge achievement for the members and the USU through solidarity and the collective strength of the outdoor workforce throughout the negotiating process.
