Members at TabCorp are seeking a fair deal on wages in negotiations for the first new enterprise agreement since 2013.
The USU is currently negotiating for a replacement to the long expired 2013 TabCorp Granville agreement. TabCorp has sought to make substantial changes to the agreement in recognition that the gambling industry has significantly changed since 2013, with a decrease in sales calls coming through to the Granville call centre and an increase in the need for customer service operations. As a result, our members have accepted several changes to rostering and availability in the new agreement, in exchange for some wins on transparency, and a change to allow staff working overnight shifts on Friday nights to receive the Saturday rate of pay from midnight rather than 7am.
As our members have compromised on many items, we have sought a fair wage rise from TabCorp, with our initial claim for 6% per year over four years, taking into account a rise in cost of living, and lack of a substantial wage increase since 2022. TabCorp has come back offering 4% in year 1, and 3% for the following 3 years. Our members have rejected this offer, and we have responded with a counter offer of 5% in year 1, and 4% in subsequent years. Encouragingly, TabCorp has not rejected this offer, and will respond in mid July. We will continue to fight for our members to receive a fair wage increase.
