The permanent night mowing crew at the City of Newcastle (CN), have previously been allowed to move their Show Day entitlement, provided in their Enterprise Agreement, to another day.  This flexibility allowed the team to enjoy the same benefits as other CN employees.

This year was different, without any real consultation or consideration, the expectation changed.  Staff were obviously disappointed and concerned that changes were made without any discussion.

A call the to the USU Organiser, followed by a couple of team meetings with Management, highlighted inconsistencies this team was experiencing.

By uniting, discussing the matter openly and honestly, and with the support of the USU, this team had their Show Day entitlement reinstated, for this year at least.

The goal is now to have this arrangement formalised so that it will not be left up to interpretation, ever again.

Congratulations team on being united and speaking up.
