Since December 2025, USU members and officials have been in discussions about the renewal of the Waste Management Facility Agreement which governs the staff’s operating roster throughout the year as well as their specific work provisions.
This is renewed every year and can be an anxious time for members as their work/life balance is dependent on a favorable negotiation and the council’s willingness to maintain the roster and conditions currently held.
USU members and Organiser Stuart Stark attended meetings with Dungog Shire Council Management and HR. After some short-lived discussions, Council was happy to agree to maintain and roll over the current agreement for another year. The agreement is currently undergoing the process to be signed off which will be a great outcome for the members working there.
