Like many other Councils across NSW, Waverley Council has an Enterprise Agreement that sits in conjunction with the Local Government (State) Award.

As part of this Agreement, our members who work on the Coastal Team receive the Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance contained within the Award.
The Union identified that this allowance was not being implemented properly, and that several of our members had not been receiving the allowance as per the Agreement.
Through consistent advocacy, the Union and our delegates were able to secure backpay for several members (including one of our delegates, Geoff) and have ensured that the allowance will be paid as per the Agreement to new staff in future.
This was a significant win for members, with our members a couple thousand to several thousand each, particularly at a time of rising cost of living. It clearly demonstrates how important it is to have active members and delegates who are willing to push to make sure that they receive all their entitlements.
