Woollahra Street Cleaners took a major step in their EBA campaign by organising and running their own workplace meeting to plan the way forward. The USU organiser was there for support and to answer questions, but the meeting itself was driven entirely by members.
Clear Goals & Strong Unity
Workers across Street Cleaning, Business Centres and Waste Services are standing together to protect their conditions and push back on any attempt by Council to weaken them. At the meeting, Street Cleaners set out how they want to approach negotiations, including their ongoing push for an RDO/35-hour work week.
The way these members stepped up reflects the strong community they’ve built at Woollahra. They back each other, they listen to each other, and they’re committed to making sure no one is left behind in this process.
That solidarity, combined with the USU’s support, is what gives their campaign real strength.
We’re extremely proud of these members and delegates for the ownership they’ve taken over their campaign and the strength they’ve shown in leading it.
