Following strong calls from members to improve the treatment of injured workers at City of Parramatta, the USU has been meeting regularly with Council to overhaul injury management practices.

These working-party meetings have already made a real difference. Through open discussions, both the Union and Council have gained a clearer understanding of how current systems impact injured workers and what needs to change.

Early improvements have already been made to communication, case handling and support processes, all of which are essential for safe recovery and a successful return to work.

The USU has also been supported by Carroll & O’Dea Solicitors, our workers compensation partner, whose expertise is helping ensure Council’s procedures meet the high professional standard our members deserve.

The work is ongoing, but the progress so far shows what can happen when members speak up, insist on respectful treatment and when employers are held accountable.
