USU held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Blacktown members on Wednesday, 26 November 2025 at the Blacktown International Sports Park and the turnout reflected the strength of our membership at this council.
Members came ready to participate, with a large crowd and plenty of thoughtful input from across the workforce. Several motions were put forward during the meeting and have now been formally sent to Council for response.
A key point of interest was the USU’s upcoming campaign to ensure all council workers are protected under the new Retail Protection Laws. [LINK JOURNAL STORY ON THIS CAMPAIGN] This issue had strong support from members in attendance.

We were also joined by guest speakers Scott Dougal – Carroll O’Dea Solicitors, Chris Micallef – Vision Super and Richard Zaiter – Australian Mutual Bank, who each provided updates and advice relevant to members.
A big thank you goes to our delegates, whose year-round work often goes unseen.
Their commitment to representing members fairly and professionally is a major part of why Blacktown has such a solid, active union presence.
The day ended on a lighter note, with lucky door prizes and lolly showbags adding to the atmosphere.
