Randwick Rangers have achieved a major win after the USU challenged Council’s attempt to alter Ranger gradings without proper consultation.

Last year, Council tried to change the grading structure from Grades 9–11 to Grade 10, which would have limited progression and reduced future earnings. The USU pushed back and secured a commitment that all current and future Rangers would progress from Grade 10 to Grade 11 once they completed the Cert IV in Government Investigations.

Council Didn’t Action Its Commitment – Costing Workers Income

Earlier this year, it became clear that this progression had not been applied, and several Rangers had been left behind. The Union raised the issue formally and secured both the correct grading and backpay for every affected member.

One long-standing member, who has been with the Union since 1993, told us this was the best outcome he has ever received through the Union after receiving approximately $3,500 in backpay.
