The USU has been discussing with members the possibility of making an application to hold a Protected Action Ballot (‘PAB’).

Members have overwhelmingly voted in favour of your Union proceeding with this action and it is our intention to file within the next 14 days.

The PAB will be conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (‘AEC’) via post, therefore, it is vitally important that, in order of priority, members do the following:

  1. Please contact the Union’s Membership Support Centre on 1300 136 604 to ensure your postal address is correct; and

  2. At the time of voting, to not just vote in big numbers, but to vote yes to every action item listed on the PAB. Voting yes to all actions, irrespective of whether they’re actions you can participate in or not, is of vital importance given the USU’s unique coverage of office & field based staff.

We ask you to distribute this notice amongst your colleagues and encourage them to vote and vote yes.

Further, we would like to remind you that the PAB is open only to USU members – this is a legislative requirement. That being the case, we ask that you speak to your colleagues who aren’t USU members about the importance of union membership and having their say in the PAB.

If you have any questions about this email, please contact USU organisers Troy Dunne or Paul Sansom.
