Thank you to all staff across Australia who filled in the USU/ASU Maurice Blackburn (MB) EASurvey. We had a great response to the Survey which we transformed into the USU/ASU Log of Claims which has been endorsed at members’ meetings. Now we are ready to bargain.

What is the first step?

Notice of Employee Representational Rights (NERR)

The Fair Work Act 2009 requires MB to provide all employees who are to be covered by the proposed agreement with a notice outlining your rights. The firm will send this notice to employees on the 20th June 2019.

Negotiators of EA’s are called “bargaining representatives”.

Members of the USU/ASU do not have to do anything about the appointment of a bargaining representative-the USU/ASU automatically your bargaining representative and the USU/ASU negotiating team made up USU/ASU delegates and union officials will conduct the negotiations for USU/ASU members.

You do not need to do anything, the NERR is a legal procedural notice advising people of their rights.

Initial EA Meeting

The first EA meeting between the USU/ASU delegates and Officials with MB management will occur on 26th June 2019. This first meeting will largely be an administrative meeting to kick off the negotiations.
