Dear Members,

Those of you who pay your USU fees via payroll deduction may have noticed that your deductions will have stopped since the beginning of the new year.

This has understandably caused much confusion amongst those affected, however, as at last night (22/1), the issue has been resolved and you should notice your fees once again being deducted from your pay.

In short, this error came about as a result of confusion over the applicable sub-clause of the Fair Work Act that pertains to deductions from pay and how such deductions are authorised.

You DON’T need to do anything at this point and nor do you need to worry – please be assured that this error has not impacted on your financial member status as we were able to rectify the error well in advance of such a thing occurring.

We are, however, yet to work out how we will go about recouping owed monies and whom is responsible for those payments. We will be in touch once we sort that out.
