Today the NSW Liberal-Government members of the Legislative Council refused NSW Labor Shadow Minister for Local Government, Peter Primrose, from being allowed to move a motion recognizing it has been 100 years since NSW Parliament passed legislation that enabled NSW women to stand for office in local government, and other public offices.
The United Services Union has confirmed they are in dispute with Upper Lachlan Shire Council over restructure plans. The union has serious concerns about possible job losses. The dispute has been covered in today’s Crookwell Gazette.
Last week four parking patrol officers were assaulted by members of the public in two separate incidents in the Liverpool CBD.
It is with great sadness that the USU announces the unexpected death of one of our members Mr David Wright. The USU has recently been provided funeral details and would like to share with those who may wish to attend.

Latest USU campaigns and updates
Almost 60 USU/ASU delegates from all states and territories met in Melbourne on 5 February 2020 to commence preparations for bargaining in Qantas Airways and QFIT.
In our last newsletter on the 20 January we informed members that the ASU made application to the FWC regarding a lack of consultation by Auscript regarding the office closures and redundancies.
In 2019 the USU ran a state-wide campaign around what makes us happy at work. This campaign focused on the mental wellbeing of employees across the many private sector employees that the USU represents.
