UNITED SERVICES UNION WATER AND SEWER VOCATIONAL GROUP UPDATE: The USU is committed to advocate for the correct handling of discarded toxic materials and the use of relevant safety apparatus.

The USU was informally and formally advised by Blacktown City Council on Monday 3rd December that Council had discovered asbestos under the carpet on Level 1 of the Civic Centre during renovations.

This morning we have received information alleging that Blackheath Tip is potentially contaminated with asbestos.

The United Services Union has recently become aware of an asbestos contamination at the Lawson Stockpile site.

On Wednesday 25 October 2017 USU Delegates, Health and Safety Representatives, and a USU Industrial Officer met with Greg Maddaford a Senior Inspector of Safework NSW.
