The Crookwell Gazette reports on the action taken by members at Upper Lachlan Shire Council today.
The USU has been in dispute with Upper Lachlan Shire Council over their restructure plans that threaten jobs, wages and conditions at Council. The dispute escalated when members walked off the job at 8am this morning following Council’s poor response to USU concerns about the restructure.
This Seven News report shows the situation many parking rangers face while doing their job. USU General Secretary Graeme Kelly said a number of members have suffered “serious harm”. The USU is calling for Councils to implement double patrols similar to police and paramedics.
Last week the USU lodged a dispute with Upper Lachlan Shire Council over restructuring at Council. With jobs, wages and conditions under threat by the so-called restructure we have held meetings with members to alert them to the serious consequences of the restructure. Members are understandably concerned and angry.
