When we updated you on JobKeeper payments and redundancies yesterday, we confirmed that Virgin Australia would be commencing JobKeeper payments from 30 March 2020 and re-crediting any annual leave or long service leave that team members have taken since 30 March 2020 as a result of being stood down.

The overwhelming majority of NSW councils have signed up to a workplace deal that will protect thousands of local government jobs during the current health crisis, providing job retention payments for workers unable to undertake their usual roles due to COVID-19 service closures.
With Local Government workers left out of the Federal Government’s JobKeeper Scheme the USU, along with other Local Government industry unions and the Employer’s Association LGNSW, have negotiated the Local Government (COVID-19) Splinter Award 2020.
