The Ambulance Service of NSW and Administrative and Clerical Employees (State) Award 2019 has now been approved.

Changes to the New Award include:

  • 2.5% pay increase (backdated to 1 July 2019)
  • Ability to split breaks by agreement on a centre by centre basis
  • Introduction of a casual clause with provisions in work directions to favour permanent staff in the allocation of vacant shifts.

The Union held considerable concerns in regards to the introduction of a casual clause into your award. Particularly the impact this would have on permanent part-time members’ ability to pick up additional shifts. The Union gained concessions in the Industrial Relations Commission ensuring that when allocating vacant shifts Ambulance will first offer any vacant shift to a permanent employee with owed hours, secondly to part-time employees who have indicated their availability for additional shifts via myShift and thirdly to casuals.

The Union considers this an important win in maintaining the integrity of permanent positions in Ambulance.

Keep an eye out in coming weeks for your pay increase. If anyone has any questions about award or the use of casuals in control centres please contact Mick Jones on 0450 020 589.
