LGNSW, on behalf of your council, are attacking your redundancy entitlements.

Item 22 on the Employer’s Log of Claims for the new Award says:

“Amend subclause 42(vi) ‘to provide that the Job search allowance is inclusive of fringe benefit tax’.

The Job Search Allowance is currently a payment of $2,839 that can be used when you are made redundant to pay for training, assistance or supplies in finding new employment.
LGNSW want to reduce the value of the allowance to cover Council’s tax liability. This means your Job Search Allowance might be reduced by as much as 47% seeing you out of pocket for expenses if you have been made redundant.

This is an attempt by LGNSW to push Council’s tax burden on to their most vulnerable employees.

These types of claims are stripping the conditions that Union members have fought hard for to have included in your Award. We will continue to fight against these claims attacking your conditions.

What about pay?

The Union aims to negotiate pay increases that are higher than the increases provided in the Award for the last decade.
