As our members working across the energy industry are well aware, the last year has seen us all in a long and hard battle at the bargaining table. It is only thanks to the engagement of our members, and the work of our delegates, that we were able to hold employers to account, and fight for members’ best interests.

Looking forward now, our USU organising team have begun working on a campaign to see us placed in the strongest possible position when the next round of Enterprise Agreements come up for negotiation.

Because if we look at the bigger picture, there are once-in-a-generation changes currently underway in the energy industry- and it’s our responsibility to make sure that the interests of workers are protected throughout that process.

As such, we have ramped up our visits to workplaces and depots across the entire transmission and distribution network, working in teams of officials, to maximise our visibility and exposure to existing and potential members. To date, the feedback from these visits has been overwhelmingly positive.

Our energy officials and delegates are excited about the work being planned, so members should keep an eye out for updates and visits from the USU team. Members who are interested in finding out more about the campaign, or how they can get involved, should reach out to their workplace delegate or organiser.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that the best interests of our members working in energy are achieved and upheld.
