Following discussions with the libraries reference group the USU has gauged there seems to be a general concern of position descriptions and grading not keeping up with the role.
Libraries are dynamic environments that are one of local government’s lead innovators in the digital era. As a result the role of the librarian and the responsibilities associated with the position are changing and increasing.
If your job has changed your position is entitled to a regrade. If this has not occurred you may be being underpaid.
Please contact your delegate and/or organiser if you believe your role has changed and you have not had the opportunity for a regrade. Ensure you are being paid your worth.
Librarians make up a critical part of our community and work towards the development and education of young minds and with the changes in the role you should be fairly compensated.
