Earlier this year the USU supported a scholarship application for Skyla Simms to attend an indigenous netball competition earlier this year.
On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous sponsorship and support of our granddaughter, Skylah Simms.
With your support, Skylah proudly represented New South Wales as part of the NSW Echidnas Under 12s National Indigenous Netball Team, competing at the national championships held in Brisbane in January 2025. At just 10 years old, she was the youngest athlete on the team — a remarkable achievement that reflects her dedication, talent, and passion for the sport.
We’re also thrilled to share that the team went on to win the State Title beating Queensland, making the experience even more memorable and rewarding for Skylah and her teammates.
Your sponsorship played a vital role in making this opportunity possible. It helped cover the essential costs of travel, uniforms, and training, but more than that, it showed Skylah that others believed in her journey — something that truly inspired her throughout the competition.
We are incredibly proud of everything Skylah has accomplished and deeply grateful to you, Mr. Hughes, and everyone at the United Services Union, for your generosity and belief in her potential.
Thank you once again for supporting Skylah at such a pivotal moment in her sporting journey.
Warmest regards,
Nardia Simms & Craig Dargan
