Transgrid: On May 29th, the Workplace Determination made by the Fair Work Commission under intractable bargaining provisions came into came into effect.
The FWC determined that Transgrid members would enjoy pay increases of 6.5%, 5.5% and 4.5% with additional contributions to superannuation totalling 1% over three years, with the Determination and first year pay increases being back dated to March 1st last year.
Remarkably, the FWC also ruled that Transgrid must provide back pay to people no longer working in the business but had been at March 1st last year. This is a significant decision that could change the bargaining landscape when it comes time to renew again. Overall, these outcomes are a HUGE win for your Union in the face of aggressive tactics from Transgrid.
Endeavour Energy: Like Transgrid, Endeavour Energy’s new Agreement will come in the form of a Workplace Determination handed down in the FWC. The parties submitted their closing arguments to the FWC on May 22nd with items to be determined by the FWC including:
- Wages and superannuation.
- Overtime payments.
- Outsourcing/contracting.
- Various allowances.
Whilst a quick determination by the FWC would undoubtedly be of a benefit to all parties, members should be prepared to not have a decision until well into second half of this year.
