Local Government NSW (LGNSW), the New South Wales Local Government, Clerical, Administrative, Energy, Airlines & Utilities Union (USU), Local Government Engineers Association (LGEA) and Development and Environmental Professionals Association (depa) have adopted this Joint Statement to provide guidance to Local Government employers and employees on how to respond to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Given that the Company has notified staff about significant reductions in flight capacity of the airline – including a suspension of all international flying from 30 March and a 50% drop in domestic capacity until 14 June 2020 – there will be a lot to work through for you.
As you will all have been made aware from your CEO John Cleland yesterday all interactions with each other across floors and depots as well from external visitors will be limited and will need to seek approval from your Manager. This also extends to visits from the Union to site.
Now is not the time for the government to sit on its hands. Assistance and support to the industry must focus on protecting the jobs of workers not simply propping up companies. We urgently call on the government to meet with us and act to save the airlines industry.
