Members at nib are gearing up for the next round of Enterprise Bargaining. Negotiations will start in the 2nd half of this year.

Jess Caldwell
Nib has been undergoing some divisional changes in the first half of the year following the retirement of their long-standing CEO Mark Fitzgibbon and the appointment of new CEO Ed Close.
This has resulted in some new alignments for members who now report to different divisions. For us this meant that while the restructure is being undertaken, the negotiations for a new agreement were delayed and will now take place after July this year.
While this has been going on, organiser Melissa Pond has been visiting the Newcastle Head Office regularly working on preparing for the upcoming negotiations with the delegates as well as handling issues that have been popping up because of the divisional changes.
Delegates attend training

Sharon Baker
The delegates Sharon Baker and Jess Caldwell also recently attended delegates training at the Rutherford Office and came back brimming with ideas on how to reach out to members and potential members so they can better communicate with them when EA negotiations start.
They Sharon and Jess have worked on delegates flyers introducing themselves which they distributed around the Head Office and are currently working with nib to develop an introductory piece for new employee inductions which will include bios on themselves as well as featuring a piece on what the USU does at nib and how joining the union can benefit them.
It’s wonderful to see how delegates work hard at raising the unions profile in their workplace.
