Congratulations to the New Zealand DIA negotiation team! Your hard work has paid off and now your new EA has been APPROVED by the Fair Work Commission. The EA was put to a new vote in July 2020 and was unanimously accepted. The EA provides for an equivalent of 17.5% wage increases over the life of the agreement (4 years), an improved salary progression system, increased allowances and an array of other improved conditions and entitlements, as well some historical conditions have been grandfathered for individuals.
The USU has been working with the New Zealand Government since 2018 to secure these conditions and pay for NZ employees working in Sydney by way of an Enterprise Agreement (EA) to replace existing individual contracts.
This result is the outcome of workplace solidarity and collectivism, however in particular, it was the time and effort of the bargaining reps that are to be congratulated for this achievement.
