Your Union is proud to announce significant progress in improving access to the Federal Government’s Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment for our centre-based, subsidy funded educators.

This achievement reflects the dedication and support from ECEC members, whose involvement has been driving this initiative forward.

The USU has successfully lobbied the federal government to access the ECEC Worker Retention Payment for relevant Local Government employees.

Once the Industrial Relations Commission ratifies the ECEC Splinter Award, it will be essential for NSW Council Service Providers to sign on to this Award to access the federal funding. While there are specific conditions attached, this outcome is a significant win for USU members, who have continued to advocate for improved pay and conditions.

Additionally, we have secured:

  • Guarantee ECEC workers pay for opening and closing centres
  • Guarantee reasonable paid non-contact time for employees responsible for the preparation or evaluation of a development program for children
  • Reasonable reimbursement for license, accreditation and training costs
  • Guaranteed minimum salary system rate of pay at Band 3 Level 1

Your Union remains dedicated to improving the recognition and entitlements of our Early Childhood Educators.
