The New England Weeds County Council (N.E.W.C.C) comprises Walcha, Uralla, Armidale and Glen Innes/Severn Councils. In June 2024, the N.E.W.C.C was placed under Administration.
The United Services Union has been working with our members at N.E.W.C.C who have now moved into their new positions at the four regional Councils which were previously covered by the N.E.W.C.C, being Walcha Shire, Uralla Shire, Armidale Regional and Glen Innes/Severn Shire Councils.
The USU has negotiated to secure our members back pay that was owing, and this has now been paid to our members.
The Acting General Manager of N.E.W.C.C, has now taken up a position with Armidale Regional Council and the Administrator has finished up his work with the County Council.
It has been a hard road for the staff members of N.E.W.C.C, not knowing where this journey was going to take them back in June 2024, when N.E.W.C.C, was placed under Administration. Our members believe that issues such as theirs are a good reason to join the United Services Union, as it has helped and supported them throughout this stressful process and they believe that being members of the USU has ensured they received a a good and correct outcome.
