In July 2024 Brandon Rhodes, USU delegate and President of the Sydney Branch, had his employment with Liverpool City Council terminated. This occurred following comments he made at a rally of USU members.
Brandon is a long term delegate who has been instrumental in membership growth, representing members and workplace negotiations. His termination occurred during unprecedented industrial unrest at Council.
The USU tried to resolve this matter through conciliation and finally the matter moved towards arbitration.
Members at Liverpool City Council were ecstatic to learn that in the hours before the arbitration was to begin the USU successfully negotiated Brandon’s return to the workplace!
Brandon will return in January 2025 and we are sure his return will be celebrated by the loyal members who have stood by his side!
