Our great winners from 2021

Sam apprentice of the year

The USU New Gen Committee congratulates 2021 Apprentice / Trainee of the Year Paul Thurlow – Apprentice Diesel Mechanic from Kempsey Shire Council

Paul has been recognised not just for his outstanding application to his apprenticeship but also for being an outstanding Union member. His nominators truly support Paul’s nomination and recognition:

“In the short time Paul has been working with us he has shown us how versatile he is with work. Paul is a mature-aged apprentice, he is a fully qualified auto electrician. Paul has almost finished all his TAFE work theory in a year rather than 3 years.”

“Joined our workforce, jumped straight into being on call, took control of our electrical section, ordering in supplies, getting through study while managing work with family life, going above and beyond.”

“Paul has undergone further training obtaining his forklift tickets, learning operating systems to fill in as a supervisor when needed. He has really applied himself to this 100% and proving daily to be an asset.”
