The 2024 USU Women’s Conference, held on September 21st and 22nd, once again brought together 85 women for two days of inspiration, education, and motivation. This year the Women’s Committee proudly presented Conference outcomes to the Delegates Conference.
Women in Leadership Panel
The Women in Leadership panel gave delegates the chance to hear directly from women shaping the future of local government and community leadership.
Speakers highlighted how initiatives like HunterWiSE, which supports young women in STEM and entrepreneurship, and partnerships with universities are helping to break down barriers and create real-world pathways.
The discussion underscored that opportunities are not just about policy—they’re about building cultures where women are visible, supported, and set up to thrive.
Fundraising with Purpose
Delegates had some fun testing their knowledge of Indigenous languages, with the winner taking home a signed women’s football shirt. Instead of keeping it, the winner chose to raffle the jersey, raising $1,200 for The Formal Project. The funds will help ensure young people don’t miss out on their school formal. Reproductive and Parental Leave
The conference also shone a spotlight on workplace rights that matter deeply to women. Presentations on reproductive health leave and parental leave, delivered by USU staff, sparked powerful conversations about how unions can continue leading the push for fair, supportive workplaces.
Art Therapy Workshop
Delegates also rolled up their sleeves and took part in a hands-on art therapy workshop. The session gave everyone the chance to reflect, connect, and explore creative tools for wellbeing. It was a reminder that building strong leaders also means taking time to care for ourselves and each other.
Active and Engaged Delegates
Perhaps the most inspiring part of the conference was the delegates themselves. From lively panel discussions to open-floor contributions, attendees were active, engaged, and unafraid to jump on the mic. Their energy and commitment made it clear: USU women are leading from the front, in their workplaces and in their union.
