The United Services Union advises of the sudden passing of Organiser Emily Callachor on Sunday 4th October 2020.
Emily was an integral part of the USU family, totally committed to eradicating social injustice, inequity for all workers, entrenched and systematic inequality for women and the continuing injustice for Indigenous Australians.
Emily was a long term member of both the Ausgrid and USU women’s committees where she uncompromisingly advocated for the introduction of paid leave for women suffering from domestic violence.
Emily’s care and compassion for others was significant, including volunteering for many charitable organisations ensuring that those in need were provided a helping hand.
Emily will be remembered for all of those qualities including as a fierce and uncompromising advocate for the worker and the many in our society less fortunate. Emily was an inspiration to all.
