Qantas bulletin

Qantas has made some major announcements about its plans to reopen flying, and that all employees will be returning to work by December. Some international routes will reopen sooner than expected and domestic flying is expected to be back to normal by January 2022. We welcome the news that members will be getting back to work after the last 18 months of standdowns and uncertainty.

Members will have questions about what this announcement means for them.  The USU/ASU has organised a consultation meeting with Qantas on 28 October 2021. We’ll be asking the company to update us on:

  • Re-opening plans
  • Rostering during the ramp up
  • Special Leave Without Pay
  • Income Support Payments like the DRP and IRP
  • Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Christmas leave

If you have other questions you’d like us to ask, please speak to your delegate or organiser.

We know everybody’s circumstances will be different. The USU/ASU will be working to make sure that our members return to work in a fair and safe way.
