The USU welcomes the decision by the Albanese Government to increase the staffing allocation in federal parliament.
The additional extra electorate staff member role was contained in the 2023 Budget, and it will go a long way in improving workplace conditions.
Many members working at parliament house told us in our recent survey that you believe staff allocations need to increase to assist with challenging workloads.
The USU understands that these workloads have increased substantially over recent years. The union has been arguing for some time for the staff allocations to be increased, in addition to fighting for better pay and conditions for our members.
