At its meeting on 13th September 2017 the USU State Executive resolved to support marriage equality as outlined in the following resolution. In doing so the USU State Executive acknowledges that this issue is a deeply personal consideration for all Australians when voting in the upcoming postal survey.
“The USU State Executive supports the legal right of all adult couples in Australia to be married if they so choose, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender of the parties to the marriage.
The USU State Executive supports marriage equality and we are proud to say we do.
The USU State Executive’s support of marriage equality is not a binding vote on its membership.”
