The USU condemns council’s proposal from Operations Director Paul Keech to contract out the Public Amenities cleaning at Shoalhaven City Council.
This undermines secure work at this council and well paying jobs in the Nowra Community. If this motion is supported it will displace council workers take jobs away locally and is a gateway into broader job losses at this council. It is an absolute disgrace and councillor’s have a responsibility to vote this motion down, support local employment and secure jobs within their community and industry.
The United Services Union is currently engaged in a campaign against the scourge of contract labour with our campaign “Council Services By Council Workers” and will fight to protect secure employment in the Shoalhaven.
