Members at Teachers Health have elected three new delegates to join an expanded delegate team.

Our existing delegates decided in early 2024 to add an additional 3 new delegates, both to cover the loss of one delegate, add an additional delegate, and create a delegate position for the Wollongong Office. This change is reflective of the increase in membership in 2023. Membership has now grown to over 200 members at Teachers Health, creating the need for additional representation in the workplace. This is a testament to the hard work of the existing delegates in providing strong representation to members.

Five members put their name forward to become delegates. These members came from different areas across the organisation and are representative of the diversity across the USU’s membership at Teachers Health. Following the expression of interest, an online election was held with all members being given the opportunity to have say on their leadership. The election was conducted well with all candidates enthusiastically putting their best foot forward in a respectful and well-behaved manner. Over half the members at Teachers Health voted in the election, and new members were recruited during this election period.

Our 3 new delegates elected: Monika, Kerry, and Joseph have now joined our delegates team, which is now comprised of 9 delegates from across the organisation. This expanded delegates team will continue to provide strong representation to members at Teachers Health, and will be working closely with their organiser Peter Munford on campaigns to improve member conditions and build towards EA negotiations in 2025.
