Members have been raising significant concerns over the lack of rostering over the Christmas period. Following recent conversations with Qantas, the company is provided better certainty around the upcoming rosters.
Advance notice of Christmas rosters – Christmas rosters will be published 7 Dec and will cover the period 22 Dec to 4 Jan 2022, providing an additional weeks’ notice.
Christmas Day roster preference – The local port level will manage shift preferences for Christmas, and the company will make every endeavour to meet the request. Please contact your Organiser if you have particular concerns or need assistance.
DIL allocations – DIL allocation will align to roster roll to allow employees who have been granted DILs to have greater visibility of the approval.
Forward roster visibility and pathway for 2022 – While there remains the prospect of some uncertainty due to the new COVID-19 variant, Qantas will publish the following rosters:
Roster Period |
Roster Publish by |
5 Jan to 18 Jan |
14 Dec |
19 Jan to 1 Feb |
21 Dec |
2 Feb to 15 Feb |
25 Jan |
Qantas wants to revert to a shorter notice period (one week) for the first roster in February and assess the ability to extend roster publish after. While COVID-19 will undoubtedly continue to create hurdles for the sector, we will monitor the situation and advocate for improved rostering at Qantas.
