The collective action of NPBS employees voting NO to last year’s EA offer has resulted in a much more acceptable package for USU members this time around.

Management listened to your feedback following the September No vote and entered into the current round of negotiations with a fresh approach.

This enabled the parties to reach an agreed outcome in a short period of time – which we trust USU members will appreciate.

At the last negotiation meeting held on February 17, 2021 Your Union negotiating team and the employee nominated EA Bargaining Committee agreed to support the latest offer from Management regarding proposed salary increases for employees covered by the EA.

The offer is as follows:
• 1.75% pay increase – paid on a successful Yes vote
• 2.00% pay increase – paid in September 2021
• 2.00% pay increase – paid in September 2022
• Agreement expires September 2023

There will be no back pay in this proposal, however, the increases represent an improved outcome when measured against the previous offer from NPBS Management.

NPBS Management would not alter any other areas of their previous offer and this offer still contains the removal of the 1 ½ EA days and the restructured Flexible Leave proposal.

Although the Union would have preferred that employees keep these days, analysis of the overall package shows employees will be financially better off under this new offer.

Your Union team took time to carefully consider all impacts of the proposal and recommends USU members accept the offer.

The consideration period will commence on 3 March, 2021 with voting commencing on 17 March, 2021.

This outcome further demonstrates the power of collective action.
