This is an exciting development for our members at Newcastle Permanent and Greater Bank, as they move towards the harmonisation of two EAs under the new brand, Newcastle Greater Mutual Group (NGM). It’s a significant moment for NGM and their employees, representing a chance to build a stronger, more unified organisation. Bargaining has started with the USU and our six bargaining representatives. Below are some of the key claims we have put on the table:
- Increases in maternity leave to 26 weeks by the end of the agreement.
- Introducing a Consultative Committee Charter to clarify the committee members, roles, etc.
- Creating a reproductive health leave clause.
- Fixing higher duties pay arrangements.
- Incorporating the new right to disconnect.
Interest in the bargaining process has been significant among members and non-members, and resulted in membership growth at NGM. Organiser Craig has been making regular visits across the branch network- if you’d like to arrange a visit to your branch, you can email him at cdiebert@usu.org.au
As always, the more members we have, the stronger we are, and the better outcomes we can achieve for all workers at NGM.
