After weeks of waiting, Qantas Group finally announced the details of how the Federal Government financial assistance to international aviation workers will work and Jetstar provided the USU/ASU with an update.

The scheme will run between 1 April and 31 October 2021.

Eligibility is determined on a weekly basis. Employees will be eligible to receive the $500 payment if they:

  • support the international business; and
  • are stood down or on special leave without pay for 2 or more days in the week.

Jetstar have clarified that most employees will not be entitled to the payment because work is rarely dedicated to the international operation. However, there are some JOCC roles that may meet further eligibility criteria. Those roles are, as follows:

  • Assistant Flight Dispatchers; and
  • Operations Controllers.

Jetstar have also confirmed that all front of house employees are stood up for the roster period commencing this Saturday.

It’s important to ask for help if you need it

Organisations like Lifeline 131114 or Beyond Blue 1300 224 636 are available if needed.
