The Broken Hill City Council Consent Award has just been ratified before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. This award is a great success for not only the union but for you as employees of the council. We secured a pay increase of 10.5% compounding over three years with the first increase being 4% with backpay to 1 July 2022 to help with cost of living pressures.  

The improvements to Broken Hill City Council’s conditions of employment contained in this award have made the working conditions at Council some of the best in the industry.  

We are glad that the USU and Council were able to reach an agreement that provides a good outcome for all parties, but the union would not have been able to achieve these results without the support of our members. You, the hard-working members of our union, are the union and together we are stronger.
