While we are almost mid term in our 2023 to 2026 Award, the negotiations for the next 3-year NSW Local Government Award commence around July 2025 (7 months away).

In the meantime, we have a scheduled 3% Award increase due for the first full pay period after July 1st, 2025, and for non-casual employees with 12 months employment with their current Council as at July1 2025, a further $1000.00 lump sum payment will also apply.

We have to have our next NSW Local Government Award log of claims finalised and ready to be served on the Employer’s Association (LGNSW) by July 1 to commence almost 12 months of negotiations, to secure the following 3 years of pay increases and conditions for our almost 30,000 NSW Local Government members.

According to Manager North Stephen Hughes the time to start assessing what members see as priorities for Award negotiations starts now!

“While I am more than confident based on decades of experience in negotiating the Award that we will have a good log of claims ready in time for the negotiations to commence, I would also encourage our Delegates and members to provide us with copies of those items you would like to be considered to be added to our USU log of claims.
