At the Council meeting of 7 April 2021, Council resolved to decline the tenders they had received for the outsourcing of Cumberland Council’s 9 Long Day Care Centres. The motion carried at the meeting was:
C0421-716 Tender Evaluation and Recommendation Report –
Proposed Sale and Lease of Long Day Care
Motion:
- Decline all tenders in accordance with clause 178(1)(b) of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005
- Invite, in accordance with clause 167 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005 fresh tenders based on different details for the Long day Care Child Care centre locations outlined in the EOI selective tender process
- Delegate authority to the General Manager to continue progression of the staff working group proposal, allocating appropriate resources to the group to progress the review
- Receive a report in the future outlining the full results of the tender process and final position of the staff working group proposal.
Although Council has committed to this process being a speedy one, it will take some time for the all the steps to reach their conclusion. Rest assured the USU and the working group will continue working hard to deliver a solid proposal for council to consider.
Your Union will continue to fight for you and ensuring the Councillors have all the information available to them so that they can make the right choice – keep childcare under council control!!!
