It’s been a huge few months for the USU’s Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment (WRP) campaign.
Thanks to the ongoing efforts of USU members, delegates and the WRP campaign team, 45 out of 51 eligible councils have now signed on to the Local Government (ECEC Worker Retention Payments) Splinter Award 2024.
That means hundreds of local government ECEC workers across NSW are set to receive between $11,275 and $23,745 in additional pay over the life of the WRP.
Final Push to Reach Every Worker
With the federal deadline extended to 30 September, your Union is focused on helping the final few councils sign on and securing backpay to 2 December 2024.
How to support your fellow ECEC workers
In these final weeks of the campaign, we need your help to make sure every eligible ECEC worker gets what they deserve. You can support the campaign by talking to your colleagues, parents and your local community about why the WRP matters and the difference it makes. If you’re willing to share your own experience, we would love to hear from you.
We’re also asking members at participating councils to help us make sure everyone is getting their full entitlement. If you’re asked to complete a salary survey or provide a payslip, it goes a long way in helping us support all ECEC workers across the state.
If your council hasn’t yet signed on, USU will be visiting centres in the coming weeks to support members and keep the pressure up.
Have a question or want to help? Reach out to the WRP campaign team at ????(confirming). We’re by your side.
The USU will continue to advocate tirelessly until every ECEC worker receives the recognition they deserve for the vital role they play in nurturing children, building the foundations for lifelong learning, and providing safe and supportive environments for every child.
