In June 2023, a USU member at City of Ryde Council raised the issue of unpaid weekend penalty rates.
Initially flagged as an inquiry concerning a single member, further investigation revealed that multiple Rangers and Parking Officers were affected. Your union assisted members in taking prompt action to ensure they received the correct compensation.
It became apparent that Council had only implemented back pay adjustments from July 1, 2023, overlooking previous compensation owed. Members and their USU representative continued to advocate for complete compensation covering the entire duration of the oversite.
Through persistent advocacy, members are pleased they have collectively secured over $24,000 in back pay.
