Your union’s Retired Members Club (REMC) members continue to play a proud and active role in the life of your union.

The REMC holds four meetings each year, bringing together former members to stay informed, stay connected and continue contributing to the union movement. The meetings are held at USU Head Office in Sydney, with speakers covering everything from superannuation and aged care to industrial updates and broader political issues affecting workers.

Guest speakers in recent years have included:

  • Sophie Cotsis MP – Minister for Industrial Relations and Work Health and Safety
  • Jodie Harrison MP – Minister for Seniors and Minister for Women
  • Mark Morey – Secretary of Unions NSW
  • Experts from Vision Super (formerly Active Super), Australian Mutual Bank, and Services Australia

As REMC Convenor Paul Reid puts it,

“While you may no longer be working, the fight to protect and improve the conditions and wages of the next generation continues and as unionists, we know we need to be supportive of all current and retired members.”

Upcoming REMC Meeting Dates for 2025:

  • 18 September 2025
  • 11 December 2025

A reminder to all retired members: If you’re attending the next meeting, don’t forget to RSVP and update your contact details so we can keep in touch. Need to check where they rsvp to preid@usu.org.au
