After raising grievances about unresolved incident reports and poor-quality e-learning, USU members at Liverpool City Council have achieved a real win for workplace safety.

For too long, members had been asking for proper face-to-face safety training. Council’s reliance on e-learning wasn’t cutting it, especially with a growing backlog of unresolved safety incidents.

Backed by their delegates and the union, members stood together and demanded better. And it worked.

On Thursday 19 June, in-person safety training was delivered to a large group of workers. At the same time, Council has begun making progress on long-standing incident reports that had gone unresolved for far too long.

The USU congratulates Liverpool members for standing strong and putting safety first. These wins will soon be referred to a formal yard meeting at Rose Street Depot so that members can formally endorse the progress made.
